A Champion for Ontario
Meet Andrea
“I am ready to fight for the community I love so much. Together we can plant the seeds for a brighter future now.”
Andrea is a community activist who has deep Ontario roots. She grew up in a mixed-culture household and is deeply influenced by the values instilled in her by her mother from rural Kentucky and her Mexican-immigrant father. She grew up in a blue house in downtown on D Street where she used to walk to the library with her mom sparking a life long love of learning. Andrea was the first person in her family to go to college and earned her Masters in Violence, Terrorism and Security in Belfast, Northern Ireland at 21. She went on to work in security threat analysis fields, tech, disaster response and recovery, real estate development on mixed-use walkable, rollable communities, and as a senior project manager at a federally designated comprehensive cancer center.
Throughout her career she has worked on complex issues that require creative solutions and a deep understanding of how to build broad coalitions. Andrea understands that we need to not only invest in physical infrastructure, but critically to start imagining a more sustainable dynamic city and investing in our community by building parks, safer streets, and affordable housing that will create a resilient, dynamic, safe community that is ready for the challenges our City faces. Working families deserve a fair shot and the economy needs to work for our community. She is running to serve as a voice for Ontario residents that have gone unrepresented for too long. She is ready to get to work planting the seeds for a brighter future.
Andrea volunteers on a number of non-profit boards aimed at increasing access to art and culture in Ontario and Pomona. Andrea is a proud older sister to a union federal wildland firefighter. She is a fierce environmental justice advocate, an avid native plant gardener, and cyclist. She speaks English, Spanish and Italian. You can spot her riding around the neighborhood on her custom pink bike or crocheting at the park.
